How to change or catechumen the units of a drawing in AutoCAD

How to modify the units of a drawing in AutoCAD, such as from Imperial (feet/inches) to Metric (mm, cm, m), or vice versa.

Solution:

These are the main methods to convert a drawing units.

Alternative i (preferred method): Utilise -DWGUNITS

  1. Enter the-DWGUNITS command. The following prompts will exist performed in succession:
    1. Cartoon units.
    2. Drawing unit brandish formats.
    3. Linear display format.
    4. Linear display precision.
    5. Scale objects from other drawings upon insert?
    6. Match INSUNITS to drawing units?

Notes for AutoCAD Establish 3D:This control can only catechumen plain AutoCAD components like lines, arcs, ... but non all AutoCAD Plant 3D components similar AutoCAD Plant 3D elbows. Don't utilize DWGUNITS for AutoCAD Constitute 3D.

Alternative ii: Use the INSERT command

Feet to Centimeters = 30.48
Centimeters to Feet = 0.0328084

Notes:

  • For the Calibration command method, adjust the dimension text and arrowhead peak in the dimension style as needed.
  • Layout viewports may demand to be moved or resized, or the plot scale updated, when an alternate unit page size is selected after conversion. For case, when an imperial paper size is selected in a drawing that has been converted to metric.
